All School Announcements Deadline for all High School athletes to get their money and paperwork in is Friday, August 20th if they plan to start practice on the first day, Monday, August 23rd. Honor the coaches practice times by having all your paperwork into the athletic office in advance. See the bottom of this email for detailed information. FOOTBALL We will hold a non-contact clinic for students age 7 and up though 8th Grade to teach football fundamentals starting Monday Aug 9 at 5pm at Portland Christian High School. The clinic will be held this Wed, and Thur for a total cost of only $25. For the seventh consecutive year, on August 23, 2010, we will field 3rd-6th Grade football teams at PC. We play within the CYO football league (Catholic Youth Organization) as Region 12. Practices start Monday Aug 23 at PC High School from 5p-7p. Practices will be held at PCHS each weeknight from Aug 23-Sep 1. We will transition practices to the Elementary School on Thur Sep 2nd with a slightly earlier start time to allow for practice and attendance at the Ice Cream Social following practice. We will take Labor Day weekend off, and thereafter practices are held right after school at the Elementary campus. Games will be on Saturday mornings (with a possible bye week during the season) beginning September 11 and ending October 30 for 3rd/4th Grade, with 5th/6th Grade playoffs extending into November. Sign-up now on-line at www.cyocamphoward.org (forms and fees go to CYO directly). The CYO Fall season fee for participation is $255, which includes equipment usage. Jr High Football Grade 7-8 signups are through the High School athletic office (not part of CYO). Gear checkout is Aug 28 from 11a-1p at the High School. Practice begins Aug 30. Games are typically Tue or Wed nights, with practice each weeknight. Youth Football Camp (7 years of age through Grade 8) Parents, There is no obligation to register to play football this season, just an opportunity to learn while running off some summer energy. See the flier on the website (link above) for further information, just sign it and bring it to the clinic with the fee. For All Fall Athletes All student athletes must have the following to begin practicing any sport: 1) Current Physical on File (good for two years – contact Mrs. Hanson at debi.hanson@pcschools.org or Cheryl Jarvis at ext. 200 to see if your student’s physical is up-to-date) **OSAA has come out with a new form that must be used from June 1st on. The forms are available online as well as in the HS office. 2) Current Participation Permit (good for one year) http://pcschools.org/athletics_forms.html Please fill out this form online and submit soon so we can get an accurate count of what students are playing which sports this upcoming season. Thank you. 3) Fee paid in advance $195 per HS Sport (Family Cap is $750.00) 4) No outstanding items owing from the 2009-2010 school year (Unpaid fees, non-returned uniforms, locks, etc).
