PCS ATHLETICS NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Congratulations to Kim Hill, Class of 2008, on being names to the 2011 AVCA Division 1 - First Team All America. Kim just completed her final year of volleyball at Pepperdine University taking her team to the final 8 in the NCAA playoffs and losing a tough match to USC. The awards will be presented Dec. 16th in San Antonio, Texas at the AVCA All-America Banquet in conjunction with the NCAA Championships.

Congratulations to Senior volleyball players, Emily Kozlowski and Taylor Forney! After completing four great seasons at Portland Christian, the two seniors have both been voted to the 2A All-State Teams. Taylor, a setter, earned 2nd Team All-State and Emily, a middle blocker, was voted as the 2A Player of the Year! Congrats to both girls!!

Portland Christian's Girl's Varsity Basketball team took first place at the 2011 Columbia Christian Tournament. Congratulations to the players and Coaches!

An article was included in the 11/23/11 edition of The Columbian, in the sports section on Page B5, under Prep Notes. It talks about a few of the PC football players who live in Vancouver and their contributions to the team making the playoffs this year! Congratulations to the Portland Christian Volleyball team for competing in the 2A State Championship game! The Royals ended the regular season ranked #6 in the State and finished 3rd in the Northwest League. After earning a spot in the State playoffs, the Royals faced #11 Elgin in the first-round. Portland Christian pulled off the victory in 4 sets and were on their way to the State Tournament. In the quarterfinals the Royals went up against the #3 ranked team and the defending State Champions, Weston-McEwen. The Royals won in straight sets and would face #2 Reedsport that same evening. Playing their best volleyball the Royals earned a spot in the finals by defeating the Braves in 4 sets. For the Championship game Portland Christian would face #1 Days Creek. Although the Royals came up short in the final match they did not go down without a valiant fight. Each of the three sets were very close in score 23-25, 21-25, 24-26. The Royals were led this year by Senior team captains Emily Kozlowski (Player of the Tournament) and Taylor Forney (2nd Team All-Tournament). Way to go Royals!!
