GET CONNECTED AND INVOLVED

Whether you are new to PCS or have been part of the family for a while and would like to be more involved, here are some ideas for ways to connect.

At the Elementary Campus

  • Moms in Touch -Join other moms and grandmas in praying for our kids and our school on Wednesdays at 8:35 am in the Community Lounge.
  • Friday Socials - Get to know some of the other parents in a relaxed setting over coffee and goodies in the Community Lounge. We generally meet on the third or fourth Friday of each month at 8:15 am in the Community Lounge. You will receive notice of upcoming Socials via Family Announcements and News & Notes e-mails.
  • Family Social Events -Watch the Family Announcements and News & Notes e-mails for upcoming events that include anything from roller skating to movie night to "Family Fun Night."
  • Friday Chapels - Join the students, faculty, staff, and other parents at any of our chapels on Fridays at 9:00 am in the gym. Also watch for announcements of occasional special chapels.
At the Secondary Campus

  • Moms in Touch - Connect with other moms in prayer every Thursday at 8:15 am in the Home Ec room.
  • Boosters - Support the kids in middle and high school extra-curricular activities as well as connecting with other parents through the Boosters, meeting the first Monday of each month at 4:30 pm in Room 20.
Committees

"Another great way to get involved … Please check the school calendar on the PCS family website. All PCS parents are invited to attend the following committee meetings, whether you are an official committee member or not. For more information about any of these committees, please log in to the PCS Family Website to view contact information. Please check the school calendar on the PCS website (link) or e-mail the listed contact person to confirm the time / location of the meeting you plan to attend.

  • The PCES Parent Committee. Usually meets the second Tuesday of the month at 8:30 am in the Elementary Campus Community Lounge, but please check the school calendar on the PCS family website for occasionally varying schedules. It is the Parent Committee's purpose to promote, encourage, organize and execute, in concrete ways, the educational and extra-curricular goals of Portland Christian Schools. This committee forms and maintains sub committees, and provides information, feedback, dialogue and recommendations concerning issues of interest to the elementary campuses' administrative staff. It also focuses on fundraising and allocating those funds for the benefit of Portland Christian School and organizing various school community events and an annual staff and teacher appreciation. All parents are invited to join.
  • Boosters. Usually meets the first Monday of each month at 4:30 pm in the Faculty Lounge at the Secondary Campus. The Boosters Club is an active organization of parents, teachers, coaches and alumni whose concern is the support of all middle and high school sponsored extra-curricular activities. These include, but are not limited to, athletics, choir, band, drama, and art. The Boosters club establishes a strong support system for our school and shows our children that we are involved and care about their school activities. We show our support by attending these activities, fundraising, and purchasing items that benefit all students. All parents, faculty and staff are welcome to join.
  • The Buildings & Grounds Committee. Usually meets the first Wednesday of each month at 10:00 am in the Business Office Conference Room at the Secondary Campus. This committee oversees Portland Christian Schools' physical facilities, including all buildings and grounds at both campuses. Oversight responsibilities include maintenance, repair, and improvements. We need members who have an interest in painting, electrical, heating/cooling, landscaping, construction, maintenance, handyman/woman, design, etc. Please come and use the gifts God has given you to serve on this committee.
  • The Green School Committee.

  • The Board of Trustees. Usually meets in General Session the third Monday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Faculty Lounge at the Secondary Campus. Board members are elected by the Society (a portion of your tuition payment is "society dues," making you a Society member). All parents, faculty and staff are welcome to attend the General Session of the Board meetings.

It's THAT easy! Another easy way to earn $$ for PCS is with Safeway's eScrip program, connected to your Safeway Club Card. Once enrolled, a portion of your qualifying purchases are credited to the school or group of your choice every time you shop with your Safeway Club Card.

And don't forget about other easy ways to support our kids at PCS, such as Target 's "Take Charge of Education" Red Card and giving through the United Way program at your place of employment!

Royal Cash
Support our kids while doing your regular shopping, with Royal Cash! Royal Cash is a scrip service that is a dollar for dollar gift card exchange - there is no additional cost for you, and in the process Portland Christian receives funding!
