Written by OregonPrepSports.net

Portland Christian, winners of the 3A Special District 2 title and 3A State quarterfinalists, will be sending a trio of boys soccer players on to the next level. Graduating seniors Jake Arntson, Dave Smouse, and AJ Astacio-Patten will try to make an impact on their college teams this fall.

Jake Arntson Midfielder/Forward will be attending Corban University this fall. The 2008 state championship "Qwest player of the game" will be headed to Salem to play with first year head Coach Paul Meehan. Coach Aaron Lewis says, " Jake was an integral part of the Portland Christian program for four years. It is fantastic to see him get the chance to play for a quality program like Corban University."

Dave Smouse Midfielder/Forward has chosen to attend George Fox University. The 2009 Columbia River Player of the Year, and 1st team All-State selection, will play for the Bruins of GFU. Dave's skill and vision give him an opportunity to play a significant role in the near future at the next level.

AJ Astacio-Patten will team up with Dave Smouse down in Newberg. AJ's ability to attack out of the back with skill has been an asset for our program for three years. "The growth in maturity and as a player has been significant since he arrived" says Lewis. AJ was named first tam all Columbia River in 2009.
