One week before the students showed up for the first day of school, the teachers were already here.   Just what went on during In-Service week at Portland Christian, anyway?

As at any school, teachers used time during In-Service to prepare their classrooms, organize seating arrangements, ready teaching materials, inventory textbooks, stock up on supplies, and meet with fellow teachers,.  Teachers and staff learned new education tools and methods, brushed up on CPR training, and familiarized themselves with the latest in educational technology. 

But for PCS teachers, there’s more to it -- because their role is more than just educating children.  It’s to teach within the context of the Bible and to share the love of Christ.  In-Service week is always a special time for our teachers and staff to also plan how to  implement the school’s mission of “… transforming lives.” m So this year’s August In-Service week saw  teachers, staff, and administrators singing worship songs, praying for our students, and  encouraging one another in Christian love.  What a great way to start the year - by focusing on the Lord!

Now that the school year has started, PCS teachers are absorbed in their teaching schedules and are enjoying their students.  And daily, they pray for their students as they model Christ’s love.
