Long term Commitment Pays Off

Kristina Gore began coaching volleyball when her daughter entered the 3rd grade. Coaching at Portland Christian allowed her to be with her daughter and get into coaching for the first time. Since she had played basketball for her father while in high school at Pacific High School and loved her experience, she jumped at this coaching opportunity. Gore recruited new players to the program during that 3rd grade year.  And she encouraged girls who would have never thought about playing, to join the team.

Gore coached the same group of girls all the way through the elementary volleyball program into our junior high. When the girls moved to high school, she decided to stay behind and continue to grow our junior high teams for another year.

The following year, she joined the PCS high school staff as an assistant varsity coach for one season. Then in 2017, she was hired as our head varsity coach. That year, the volleyball team qualified for the state tournament for the first time in a long while!

Last year, 2018, the volleyball team won the 2A state championship and coach Kristina Gore was at the helm again. Her commitment and dedication to our students and our volleyball program is greatly appreciated. We have been blessed to have her consistency and encouragement to our athletes

Thank you PCS Athletic Director, Kyle Cowan, for sharing about Coach Gore.
