Joy to All this Christmas Season!

The Jr/Sr High School arts students sold Christmas wreaths decorated with handmade bows and stars to our community earning money for our arts classes which include band, choir, drama, visual arts, and yearbook. This event allows the important and ongoing improvements to the arts programs.

Over the years, with the funds raised, the school received band instrument lockers, a new sound board, performance microphones, art display panels, new cameras for the yearbook classes, LED stage lighting, etc.

With this year’s proceeds in 2019, the Fine Arts Committee (FAC) bought a new digital lighting system that will be used not only for our drama, choir, and band departments, but also for school-wide weekly chapels, special events, and assemblies.  In addition, FAC also purchased a new slab roller (flattens clay) which will be shared with both campus’s art departments.  Lastly, we are able to move forward with turning our Jr/Sr High School front entrance lobby into an art gallery showcasing our students’ works throughout the year.

And there’s prizes!  The student who sells the most wreaths wins a lunch with friends hosted by Principal Wagner and the arts teacher of their choice.  And, any class that sells an average of 5 wreaths per student earns a class party.

A big congratulations to Sarah Zallee!  She was this year's winner, selling the most wreaths (22!!) and earned a lunch off campus with two of her friends, Mr. Wagner, Principal, and Mr. Ostrand, the arts teacher of her choice!

There were two classes that earned a class party by selling an average of five wreaths per student:  Jr High Drama 5th Period with an average of 5.1 wreaths per student and the High School Art 7th Period with an average of 6.1 wreaths per student.  Great job everyone!

The Fine Arts Committee (FAC) would like to thank all the students who worked so hard to earn money to improve our school's arts classes.  And we're grateful to all the volunteers who were part of making the stars, assembling the wreaths and helping deliver the wreaths! We’re super proud of our arts students and are already looking forward to next year!
