Art Students Participate in Collaborative Sculpture Project

September 28, 2020

Art teacher Mrs. McLean who has put many hours into organizing our PCS high school students describes this art project as “a larger collaborative sculpture project that is being installed at the Elizabeth Jones Art Center in the pearl district in downtown Portland. The art director is assembling hundreds of pieces that will hang (a mobile) in the center of the gallery for the upcoming exhibition, "For the Seventh Generation".

“The students are very excited about having their work in this show and being part of a larger collaborative art piece in the community.”

The Elisabeth Jones Art Center website describes the main feature project as a visual state of the Pacific Northwest coastline.  “For the Seventh Generation” exhibition is a mural of many artists’ work “dedicated to ocean protections.”  Each year, artists choose a mile to visit and paint to create a continuous panorama of our beloved coastline.

Mrs. McLean who also has a piece in the art show is hopeful that some of the PCS art students will have their wire creature hanging in the show.  On September 3, she was the artist spotlighted in the  "For the Seventh Generation" blog.  Scroll down to 9/3/2020 to read about her. https://www.elisabethjones.art/seventhgenerationblog
