Looking Back at the 2020-2021 School Year

March 31, 2021

The yearbook is a record – a memory book – for students.  Let’s not forget what this school year was all about.

Jr/Sr High School yearbook teacher and advisor, Mrs. Linda McDonald, shares with parents, “. . . we have seen resilience, determination, faithfulness, and willingness to adapt. This year is history in the making! Like most historical events, no one would choose to do it again, but it is what we know, what we talk about and how changes to the way we see things occur.”

The yearbook student staff is working hard to record the events, the people, the thoughts, and the feelings of 2020-21 for posterity. The staff is seeking photos and stories from students and parents that tell this year’s story from their homes as well as on-campus.  As Mrs. McDonald reminds students and parents, “It will be the first book pulled from any shelf when the conversations turn to ‘remember the pandemic?’ We know that this book, more than any other, will be the record of how Portland Christian Jr/Sr High School thrived in the year of the pandemic. There will always be tears and smiles when remembering this year, but the students are doing their best to record the good along with the masks, hand sanitizer, and social distancing.”

Elementary parent volunteer for the ECE & Elementary yearbook, Gelayol Haddon, reflects that this year’s  yearbook will become a “memorable token for all of us.”  She and her volunteer staff will gather photos that have been taken since the start of this school year.

If you have photos to contribute to either campus’s yearbook, please contact your campus’s school office for upload instructions. Yearbooks can also be ordered from the school offices and will be distributed in the fall of the next school year.
