We are blessed at Portland Christian Schools to have a thriving arts department at both the ECE/Elementary School and Jr/Sr High School. These two programs provide our students with the opportunity to explore the creativity and talents that God has given them.
Over the last four years, with funds raised from previous wreath sales, FAC has provided:
- a new kiln for visual art
- a new light board and LED lights for the theatre
- a digital soundboard for performing arts
- instruments for band
- band lockers
- scholarships for students to go to competitions and much more
2020 was a year of setbacks in the arts department in a number of ways. The Spring Musical of 2020, Narnia was canceled. Did you know that we had already spent thousands of dollars to produce the musical and then were not able to recoup the money in ticket sales as is typical? Ouch! We also had money set aside for S.T.E.A.M. projects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), including digital art equipment and renovations to our woodshop area that had to be put on the back burner as priorities shifted and we all adapted to the new reality that shook our world.
This year, with the funds from the wreath sales, our primary goal is to provide art-related equipment to the new S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) lab as well as continuing to support arts teachers and student art events on both campuses.
Our wreaths are unique as the beautiful star ornaments are handmade by our arts students. The wreaths are fresh from a local farm, made from mixed greens, including pinecones and aromatics.
Order and purchase your wreath here! Choose the items you would like and pay online. If you would like to pay with a check, use code: CHECK (all cap, it’s case sensitive) at check out. Checks must be turned in at either school office. Feel free to send the order link to anyone in the United States and we can ship their wreath (see order form for pricing). You can order wreaths for your business associates, family and neighbors!
Donate online to the Portland Christian Arts Department! Find the box at the bottom of the items list for donations (IRS 501(c)3 taxpayer ID: 93-0401248). Note that a wreath purchase is not tax deductible.
All online only orders and payment are due Friday, November 15.
Wreath pick-up is Thursday, December 2 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jr/Sr High School campus (12425 NE San Rafael St, Portland 97230).
