Bible
All lessons are from a Biblical Perspective:

  • Understanding God is Creator of all, He Loves us, Jesus is God’s son and our friend
  • Learning character traits like obedience, kindness, and helpfulness
  • Scripture memorization to reinforce truth
 
Science
Learning about God’s creation through:
  • Observing weather and seasons
  • Naming body parts
  • Learning about seed growth and basic parts of plants
  • Identifying and classifying zoo, pet, and farm animals
 
Math
Understanding number concepts to ten by:
  • Rote counting
  • Classifying objects into two categories
  • Labeling and matching shapes
  • Matching sets up to five
 
Music
Developing an appreciation and enjoyment of music by:
  • Simple group singing
  • Rhythmic activities
  • Musical games
 
Language
Improving verbal communication skills and conflict resolution by:
  • Simple matching opposites
  • Sorting activities
  • Learning to follow two-part directions
  • Engaging in conversation with 4 to 6 word sentences
  • Listening to short stories and repeating sentences
  • Memorize and repeat songs and rhymes
  • Learning Spanish language skills
 
Social Studies
Cooperative class interaction by:
  • Learning respect for the Lord, for ourselves, and others
  • Enjoying friends and the give and take of play
  • Expressing displeasure and frustration verbally and learning tools to solve problems
  • Understanding how people are alike and different
  • Learning how parental figures care for the home and family
  • Using dramatic play to learn about roles and environments
 
Physical Development
Making our bodies strong and learning new skills by:
  • Fine motor finger play to develop strength and dexterity
  • Eye-hand coordination by stringing beads, using peg boards, scissor skills, puzzles, and lacing projects
  • Jumping, hopping, and walking backwards
  • Arm-eye coordination by catching, throwing, and rolling balls
 
Creativity and Using our Senses
  • Exploring sensory tables full of gravel, peas, rice, something new each month
  • Using play dough and other manipulatives to learn about texture
  • Exploring smell and taste through creative projects
  • Painting and crafts of all kinds to develop our creativity
  • Field trips that explore the world around us
 
“I can do it myself!”
  • Developing self-help skills foster independence and responsibility as children learn to use the bathroom, wash hands, and dress themselves.
 
Parental involvement
  • Parents are encouraged to go on field trips, attend Christmas and spring music programs, get involved in Parent Committee meetings, and come to class parties.  
  • Parent conferences are an important communication tool with your child’s teacher.  Other events are announced in newsletters that come home each month.
 

 


4 – 4 – 4 - Four Years Old Class Overview – 4 – 4 – 4

Bible
All lessons are from a Biblical perspective:
  • Understanding God is creator of all, He loves us, Jesus is God’s son and our friend, we need a Savior, and the Bible is God’s word
  • Celebrating Christ’s birth in December and his resurrection in the spring.
  • Learning character traits like obedience, kindness, and helpfulness
  • Using Bible stories to teach moral and spiritual truths
  • Scripture memorization to reinforce truth
 
Science
Learning about God’s creation through:
  • Observing weather and seasons
  • Learning colors and shapes
  • Classifying items by similarities and differences
  • Communicating observations in a variety of ways
  • Identifying and classifying mammals
  • Cooking and nutrition, and personal hygiene activities
  • Exploring simple machines and tools
 
Math
Understanding mathematical relationships like:
  • Patterning
  • Sorting
  • Classifying
  • Measuring
  • Graphing
  • Developing logical thinking skills
  • Additional rote counting practice to 20
  • Introduction to money concepts
  • Understanding numerals
 
Music
Developing an appreciation and enjoyment of music by:
  • Group singing

  • Engaging in more complex conversations
  • Communicating ideas using reading and writing
  • Beginning reading skills by learning the alphabet and name writing

Social Studies

  • Learning tools to solve problems while working with other students

  • Jumping, hopping, and walking backwards
  • Galloping, running, and skipping
  • Fine motor finger play to improve strength and dexterity for future writing work
  • Eye-hand coordination by stringing beads, coloring, scissor skills, puzzles, and lacing projects
