Spiritual Life

"Your school has created an environment where the children are being educated to learn and put into practice welcoming, sharing the Word of God, and public praying."
~ A pastor from a local church

A very important part of the education that PCS Elementary provides includes spiritual formation, character development and leadership training.  This growth is cultivated in various activities and programs.

Weekly chapels:

  • children sing worship songs
  • each class recites a memorized verse
  • each month, students learn about a specific character trait
  • often there is a guest speaker
  • there is recognition of student successes

Peer Ministry Leadership Program:

  • open to 3rd-5th graders by application
  • teaching the peer ministers (students) to lead their peers by example
  • participation in activities that serve their peers, families and community

National Day of Prayer observation:

  • through activities relevant to each age group
  • praying around the flag pole with staff and family members

Global and missionary awareness:

  • showing God’s role in peoples’ lives through prayer, action, and involvement
  • monthly focus on a country in our world
  • participation in projects like raising support for mission groups like Shared Hope for Orphans in Uganda
and Shepherd's Door (at Portland Rescue Mission)
