Jr High School (6th - 8th grades)

Jr High Sports at PCS

Players are taught proper tackling technique, positioning, and safety through the season. Our goal is to provide a safe, age appropriate, realistic program. Practices are held at Portland Christian with games during the week. All games are played at either PCS or at an away opponent’s field. Uniforms and equipment are provided by the school.
  • 6th - 8th Grade Boys
  • Regular season: Mid-August through early November 
  • Fee: $180*
  • Register on-line by the first day of school in the fall
Players learn the fundamentals of the game with an emphasis on team spirit and sportsmanship. Practices are held during the week at Portland Christian Schools. Jr High games are held on weekdays, with potential Saturday competition.

  • Register on-line by the first day of school in the fall

Soccer is a growing sport, especially in Portland. Teams participate in the Metro Christian League, competing as a coed program. The teams are made up of different grade levels and combinations. The students practice and play games throughout the week. Home games and practices are held at Portland Christian Schools.

  • Regular season: September through mid-November
  • Fee: $180*
  • Register on-line by the first day of school in the fall
Practices are held at PCS Jr/Sr High School four nights a week, with games on weeknights. Games are held throughout the Portland-metro area at other small Christian schools within the Metro Christian League.  Athletes are placed on A and B teams based on the athletes' skill levels.

Track & Field
Practices are held four days a week at Portland Christian Jr/Sr High School. Students participate in one meet a week either at Portland Christian or at a school located in the Portland-metro area.

  • Regular season: March through May
  • Fee: $180*
  • Register on-line by mid-March
Practices are held at Portland Christian Jr/Sr High School depending on availability. Games are held 1-2 times a week.
  • 7th - 8th Grade Boys
  • 6th Grade Boys and Girls see Elementary Athletics for CYO information and fees
  • Regular season: April through June
  • Fee: $180*
  • Registration is done through an outside organization for JH baseball. Contact the PC Athletics Department or watch News & Notes for registration information.
*A family cap of $1,000 applies to sports fees.

Participation requirements

Junior High athletes (including non-CYO 6th grade athletes in soccer and track) must complete the following requirements prior to beginning practice for any sports teams.  Sixth Grade CYO athletes see Elementary Athletics for information. 
  • Register on-line (see above) to be officially added to a team roster.

  • You must have a current physical exam report on file.  

  • Download the Physical Examination form (below) and ask your medical provider to complete and sign the exam.  Submit a hard copy to the Assistant Athletic Director in the Athletics Office. This form is valid for two years.

  • Pay your sports fees with a credit card on-line or at the school office, or by check made out to PCS and delivered to the school office or mailed to:12425 NE San Rafael St., Portland OR 97230.  

  • Fees must be paid in full before the first day of practice.

  • Attend at least one pre-season mandatory parent/athlete meeting each year.  The athlete and at least one parent must attend.

  • Parents of athletes are expected to support the athletics department by volunteering either during their own athlete’s season or in an off-season to avoid missing their own athlete’s contests.

  • Students/athletes are expected to maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA. A student who is on academic or behavioral probation may not compete. Further restrictions may apply.
