Jr High Sports at PCS

 
Youth Flag Football - NEW for Fall 2018
6th - 8th Grade
  • Competitive, non-contact opportunity for all students, regardless of previous football experience.
  • Practices will be followed by a game on Saturdays, at Happy Valley Park.
  • There'll be at least one team per age group in the Clackamas/Happy Valley league. 
  • Fall Season: September 8 - October 20, 2018
  • Fee: Ranges from early registration $115, to $155.  See i9 Sports link for fee schedule.
  • Register online at i9 Sports; write in "Portland Christian" in the Special Instructions section.
  • Contact HS Head Coach Jonathan Roberts with questions.
 
Volleyball
7th - 8th Grade Girls
  • Players learn the fundamentals of the game with an emphasis on team spirit and sportsmanship.
  • Practices are held during the week at Portland Christian Schools.
  • Games are held on weekdays, with potential Saturday competition. 
  • Regular season:  September through mid-November
  • Fee: $180*
  • Register on-line by the first day of school in the fall
 
Volleyball
6th Grade Girls 
  • Players learn the fundamentals of the game with an emphasis on team spirit and sportsmanship.
  • Practices are held during the week at Portland Christian Schools.
  • Games are played on Saturdays.
  • Fall season: September through mid-November
  • Fee: $150 per player*
  • CYO Registration opens in June and closes in early September.

Soccer
6th - 8th Grade Co-ed
  • Teams participate in the Metro Christian League as a coed program and are made up of different grade levels.
  • Practices and games are held throughout the week at Portland Christian Schools.
  • Regular season: September through mid-November
  • Fee: $180*
  • Register on-line by the first day of school in the fall
 
Basketball
7th - 8th Grade Boys
7th - 8th Grade Girls
  • Practices are held at PCS Jr/Sr High School four nights a week, with games on weeknights.
  • Games are held throughout the Portland-metro area at other small Christian schools within the Metro Christian League.  
  • Athletes are placed on A and B teams based on the athletes' skill levels.
  • Regular season: December through February
  • Fee: $180*
  • Register on-line by Thanksgiving week
 
Basketball
6th Grade Boys
6th Grade Girls 
  • Athletes participate at grade level with their classmates. 
  • Boys and Girls practices are at PCS Jr/Sr High School two nights a week, with games on Saturdays.
  • Games are held throughout the Portland-metro area. 
  • Winter season: December through March
  • Fee: $150 per player*
  • CYO Registration opens mid-October and closes in early December.

Track & Field
6th - 8th Grade Co-ed
  • Practices are held four days a week at Portland Christian Jr/Sr High School.
  • Students participate in one meet a week either at Portland Christian or at a school located in the Portland-metro area.
  • Regular season: March through May
  • Fee: $180*
  • Register on-line by mid-March
 
Baseball
7th - 8th Grade Boys
  • Practices are held at Portland Christian Jr/Sr High School depending on availability.
  • Games are held 1-2 times a week.
  • Regular season: April through June
  • Fee: $180*
  • Registration is done through an outside organization for JH baseball.

6th Grade Boys and Girls 
  • Practices are at the Portland Christian Jr/Sr High Campus depending on availability.
  • Games are held 1-2 times a week.
  • Spring season: April through June
  • Fee: $150 per player*
  • CYO/JBO Registration opens mid-December and closes in March.

*A family cap of $1,000 applies to sports fees.
 

Participation requirements

Junior High athletes must complete the following requirements prior to beginning practice for any sports teams.  
 
  • Register on-line (see above) to be officially added to a team roster.

  • You must have a current physical exam report on file.  

  • Download the Physical Examination form (below) and ask your medical provider to complete and sign the exam.  Submit a hard copy to the Assistant Athletic Director in the Athletics Office. This form is valid for two years.

  • Pay your sports fees with a credit card on-line to the appropriate organization, or at the school office, or by check made out to PCS and delivered to the school office or mailed to:12425 NE San Rafael St., Portland OR 97230.  

  • Fees must be paid in full before the first day of practice.

  • Parents of athletes are expected to support the athletics department by volunteering either during their own athlete’s season or in an off-season to avoid missing their own athlete’s contests.

  • Students/athletes are expected to maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA. A student who is on academic or behavioral probation may not compete. Further restrictions may apply.
