PCS Athletes are Staying Strong!

October 5, 2020

PCS is pleased to offer opportunities for student-athletes to continue their skill training even while competition seasons are on hiatus in keeping with OHA (Oregon Health Authority) and OSAA (Oregon School Activities Association) Covid-19 guidelines.  Head and assistant varsity coaches meet with athletes on our track, on our fields, and in our gyms every day after school for conditioning and skill development.

Soccer training

High school athletes are currently training in basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball/softball, and track & field. Junior high athletes will begin training mid-October and an elementary program will also be added soon.

Basketball warm ups

All training sessions adhere strictly to OHA guidelines for health and safety. Athletes interact only with other students within their grade-level cohorts.  All students are screened prior to participating, athletes and coaches wear appropriate face coverings, and all participants maintain social distancing when possible.

Sessions are currently available two to three days a week with an hour option per sport. Students are required to sign up every Thursday for the following week’s sessions.

And for more exciting news just in: with support from the PCS Booster Club, a new strength and conditioning coach will be joining the athletics team!  This coach will provide critical training in balance, strength, and injury prevention. With so many of our athletes missing time from their sports due to Covid-19 restrictions, this training will help them develop the proper progression back into athletics.

Thank you, PCS Booster Club, for your support in making this a reality!
