Never Meant to Live in this World as It is Now

February 23, 2021

PCS high school drama classes are presenting Once Upon A One Act Festival. The featured plays are “The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon” performed by the 9th and 10th grade drama class; and “Mother Goose is Eaten By Werewolves” by the 11th and 12th grade drama class.

Beloved stories like Cinderella, Rumpelstiltskin and Rapunzel come to life in these fun retellings of tales of old.

Mrs. Lisa Singleterry, drama teacher shares in her director’s note that, “I knew that this year was going to be . . . interesting, so when I started looking for shows, I decided to pick fun and interactive shows. Of course, when I picked the shows, I had no idea that we wouldn’t get to perform them in front of a live audience. That launched me into what I call “idea mode” and out of that came our idea for putting audience members into the actual show. The drama kids had a blast figuring out how we could get the audience to be a part of the show and I hope it was fun for the audience as well.”

Volunteer audience members helped with the interactive parts of the shows; the results are absolutely hilarious, so you will definitely want to watch these performances!

Fairy tale themes always draw on stories about a prince rescuing a princess from an evil witch.  Singleterry shares that, “. . . we have a longing to be rescued . . . deep down inside, we all know that we don’t belong in this world. This world is broken, fallen. We were never meant to live in this world as it is now. The good news is that God has given us a Prince who can save us and take us to somewhere better even than a fancy castle.   Jesus is that Prince and heaven is that wonderful place.”

These fun and family friendly plays will be available on demand for one day only on March 6 starting at 12:00 a.m. and will be available until 11:59 p.m.

Preorder the show (the performance is  FREE but there is a $2.95 service charge from the online company) to have access all Saturday, March 6.
