Why did you choose to work at Portland Christian?

I love music and teaching others about music, so this job was a good fit for me. Many years into this job, I got to include my love of theater into my job, so that has also been a huge benefit.

What do you enjoy most about teaching at Portland Christian?

I love watching a kid's eyes light up when he/she learns something new or finds success onstage.

Why did you choose your specific area of teaching?

Music is in my heart and soul. It has been a huge part of my life as long as I can remember.

What’s the best thing about working with students?

I love sharing my passions with the students and helping them to appreciate music and theater.

What is your favorite part of the school day?

I love my high school drama zero period each morning. So fun!

How have you experienced God at PCS and in teaching?

God has given me strength for everything I have done over my 23 years of teaching. He has seen me through Covid, the loss of hours, two pregnancies, and so much more.

Favorite scripture verse?

Philippians 4:6-7

Tell us a little about your family, please!

I have been married to my husband Matt for 20 years. We have two daughters that attend PC (Melody, 11th grade; Tirzah, 9th grade).

What do you like to do in your free time? 

Read lots and lots of books and watch movies.

What would the students be surprised to find out about you?

That I have climbed the Great Wall of China and have carried a tuba across the border from China to Hong Kong. :)
