Why did you choose to work at Portland Christian?

I was a student at PCS from first grade through high school graduation. It was always a place I enjoyed and a place where I shared many great memories with friends I still spend time with. I just had it in my mind that I would one day come back and teach.

What do you enjoy most about teaching at Portland Christian?

The team of godly people I work with make this job a joy. I am constantly prayed for, encouraged, and hugged. They are some of my favorite people!

Why did you choose your specific area of work teaching?

Young kiddos get excited about learning. I love seeing the light in their eyes when they grasp a concept, and sharing Jesus with young hearts is absolutely the best!

What’s the best thing about being a teacher / working with students?

Having fun together is the best! And building trusting relationships with families is a huge blessing.

What is your favorite part of the school day?

Bible. No question. It thrills my heart to see and hear a room full of kindergarteners praising Jesus!

How have you experienced God at PCS and in teaching?

Answered prayers…of my students, of their families, of my co-workers.

Favorite scripture verse?

1 Peter 5:10 – Through God's Grace He Will Restore “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”

Tell us a little about your family, please!

My husband, John, and I have been married for 17 years. He teaches Bible and history at the high school, and coaches a variety of school sports. Our daughter is a freshman this year and I love to watch her draw and play sports. Our son, Jack is a 6th grader this year. He is the encourager in our family. One of my favorite things is spending time with all three of them, which is a difficult task to accomplish these days.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Read! Historical fiction and mystery are my favorite.

What would the students be surprised to find out about you?

I have 28 first cousins and we have close relationships.
