"Your school has created an environment where the children are being educated to learn and put into practice welcoming, sharing the Word of God, and public praying."
~ A pastor from a local church
A very important part of the education that PCS Elementary provides includes spiritual formation, character development and leadership training. This growth is cultivated in various activities and programs.
Weekly chapels:
- children sing worship songs
- each class recites a memorized verse
- each month, students learn about a specific character trait
- often there is a guest speaker
- there is recognition of student successes
Peer Ministry Leadership Program:
- open to 3rd-5th graders by application
- teaching the peer ministers (students) to lead their peers by example
- participation in activities that serve their peers, families and community
National Day of Prayer observation:
- through activities relevant to each age group
- praying around the flag pole with staff and family members
Global and missionary awareness:
- showing God’s role in peoples’ lives through prayer, action, and involvement
- monthly focus on a country in our world
- participation in projects like raising support for mission groups like Shared Hope for Orphans in Uganda and Shepherd's Door (at Portland Rescue Mission)
