Extra-Curriculars

Extra-curricular activities are an integral part of our school -- they provide an opportunity to round out the development of our students socially, spiritually, and physically.

A PCS education seeks to develop the whole student by fostering creativity, cultivating talent and creating close community.  Approximately 85% of junior and senior high school students participate in extracurricular activities. Following is a list of typical offerings:

  • Art Showcase celebrating student artwork every spring
  • Band and Choir performances – Christmas and spring concerts
  • Chapel Worship Team (includes sound and lighting)
  • Drama/play production every fall with students in cast roles as well as assisting in backstage crew roles
  • Musical production every spring with students in cast roles as well as assisting in backstage crew roles
  • National Honor Society
  • National Art Honor Society
  • Mathematics National Honor Society
  • Ski Club on Friday nights in January and February at Mt. Hood Meadows
  • Sports - three seasons - offered by the Athletic Department
    • Fall: football, soccer (boys and girls), volleyball, cross country
    • Winter:  basketball (boys and girls)
    • Spring: baseball, golf, softball and track & field (co-ed)
    • Portland Christian High School is a member of OSAA (Oregon Schools Activities Association) and abides by and enforces all rules and regulations set forth by the organization (since 2018-19: 2A; 2017-18: 3A)
  • STUCO (Student Council) coordinates memorable events for students throughout the year, including Powder Puff (girl’s football tournament), Power Tuff (boy’s volleyball tournament), dances, formal and casual events like homecoming and prom, service projects, and school spirit weeks
  • Summer educational travel experiences, including US and international trips
  • Thespian Club
  • Vocal Ensemble
