From daily recesses to to open gym time to team sports, we give our youngest students many opportunities to move around, have fun, and enjoy being active kids.
These early experiences help prepare them for more structured athletics in middle school, where they can further refine their skills. In addition to learning sportsmanship and perseverance, student-athletes learn to apply a Christ-like perspective and attitude on and off the field. By participating in elementary sports, students also gain confidence, learn the value of practice, and enjoy the camaraderie of being part of a team, setting a strong foundation for future athletic opportunities.

Volunteer Coaching
CYO sports are 100% volunteer-based. Portland Christian must provide two volunteer parent coaches for each team registered. Volunteer coaches can receive one free credit for their child’s registration fee. For example, if you coach volleyball your child’s volleyball registration fee can be waived.
Portland Christian volunteers are required to complete CYO Coach Certification, background clearance (link will be provided), and annual Adult/Youth Contact Training. Please complete and sign the Agreement of Compliance for Adult/Youth Contact when you have completed the training and submit a copy to the school office at your campus.
Please contact the Elementary Athletic Director for further information about volunteer coaching at the Elementary level.
