Jog-A-Thon 2025: Running for a Purpose!
The annual Portland Christian Jog-A-Thon took place at the end of September under what could only be described as a quintessential Pacific Northwest day – starting with clouds and ending with sunshine. Best of all, no rain!
More than 300 elementary students from kindergarten through 5th grade and over 70 preschoolers participated in this year’s event, filling the school field with energy, laughter, and determination. Throughout the morning, each grade level (from preschool, kindergarten to 5th grade) ran for 20 minutes. The field was a sea of movement -some students sprinting lap after lap, others walking with friends, or teachers.

Parents, grandparents, and siblings joined in too, many volunteering as lap counters, cheering from the sidelines, or even running alongside their students. The day captured our school spirit when everyone came together for a great cause.

The Jog-A-Thon is the largest annual fundraising event for Portland Christian’s preschool and elementary programs. This year’s goal is $35,000, with every dollar raised going directly to the Parent Committee. The funds help enrich the educational experience for all students—supporting classroom resources, student activities, special projects, and community-building events throughout the school year.
But Jog-A-Thon isn’t just about what happens on the big day. Preparation begins weeks in advance, as students collect pledges from family, friends, and neighbors to support their school. It’s an opportunity for students to take ownership in helping their community thrive – learning that their efforts, big or small, truly make a difference.
“The funds raised are given to the Parent Committee to use toward student needs at the PC elementary campus. We invite all parents and guardians of PC elementary and preschool students to join us at our monthly meeting to help make decisions on how the money will be spent this year. We meet the second Tuesday of each month after drop-off.”
Over the years, Jog-A-Thon proceeds have supported everything from new playground equipment and classroom technology to special assemblies, field trips, and teacher appreciation efforts. It’s truly a fundraiser that directly benefits students and teachers in visible, meaningful ways.

To all those who volunteered on the field, and in the kitchen and gym when students picked a lunch, thank you! Your energy, generosity, and teamwork make Portland Christian a loving and Christ-centered place to learn and grow.
