PC Recognizes Academic and Artistic Achievement with 32 Honor Society Inductions

Portland Christian recently celebrated the induction of 32 students into three prestigious honor societies: the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the National Art Honor Society.

With 21 new members, the National Honor Society (NHS) welcomed its newest scholars, bringing total membership to 47 students. The ceremony began with a prayer, followed by a welcome by NHS President Graham Calhoun, the reading of the Four Pillars and the lighting of candles representing the high standards of NHS: scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

The NHS inductees: Josiah Adesope, Faith Barber, Nikolas Boutcher, Oliver Brown, Sierra Choate, Cole Curry, Donovan Endres, Elda Ermias, Noah Fikresillassie, Addison Johanson, Lucille Lau, Madalyn Lucia, Hannah Lyslo, Sophia Marker, Hua Li Mu, Evan Satre, Isaac Schroder, Hezkias Tesfaye, Michael Thurber, Aubrey Wiggins, Dana Wong.

The ceremony continued with the induction of students into Mu Alpha Theta, the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society. Six students were added to the existing five members. Each inductee met the rigorous membership requirements, demonstrating distinction in college-preparatory mathematics. The principal purpose of Mu Alpha Theta is to inspire a deeper interest and appreciation for mathematics.

The evening also recognized students inducted into the National Art Honor Society (NAHS). This organization celebrates outstanding visual arts students and promotes the value of art education within schools and communities. Through NAHS, students are encouraged to pursue excellence in art scholarship, peer recognition, college and career preparation, and community engagement. Portland Christian proudly inducted five new NAHS members.
