PC Earns AP School Honor Roll Recognition
Portland Christian High School has earned a place on the College Board’s AP School Honor Roll for the 2024-2025 school year, a distinction awarded to schools that cultivate a strong college-going culture and provide students with meaningful access to rigorous, college-level coursework.
This recognition affirms Portland Christian Schools’ mission to equip students to grow in faith, excel in learning, and impact the world for Christ.
Academic Excellence with Purpose
Even amid ongoing academic challenges across Oregon and the nation, Portland Christian students consistently perform above state averages in reading and math, demonstrating strong academic growth and readiness for future success. This achievement is rooted in intentional instruction, strong teacher-student relationships, and a commitment to excellence that honors God.
At the high school level, that commitment is reflected in a thoughtfully designed Advanced Placement program that challenges students while supporting their growth. The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools that:
- Increase student participation in rigorous, college-level courses
- Support students in earning college credit
- Prepare students for long-term college success

- College Credit – Platinum: 61% earned college credit by scoring a 3 or higher on an AP exam
- College Optimization – Platinum: 25% completed five or more AP exams, including early participation in 9th or 10th grade
Strong Results, Meaningful Preparation
Student performance on AP exams further reflects the strength of the Portland Christian High School program. In nearly all subjects, Portland Christian students outperformed both Oregon and global averages, including:
- Calculus AB, Chemistry, English, Statistics, and U.S. Government: 100% pass rate
- Biology: 88.9% pass rate (compared to 72.3% in Oregon and 70.3% globally)
- English Literature & Composition: 92.3% pass rate (compared to 78.1% in Oregon and 74.2% globally)
These results reflect a schoolwide effort from teachers, counselors, administrators, and families working together to create meaningful opportunities for academic challenge and growth, while ensuring students are supported every step of the way.
Preparing Students for What’s Next
Advanced coursework at Portland Christian is not about pressure or prestige. It is about helping students steward their God-given abilities, grow in perseverance, and develop the confidence and skills needed for college, career, and life.
“We are grateful for this recognition and encouraged by what it represents: a Christ-centered community committed to academic excellence, purposeful learning, and preparing students to faithfully impact the world,” shared Principal Karen Banducci.
