Amy (Beaumont) Felton, Class of 1999
The impact of Portland Christian on the Beaumont family spans four generations! What a legacy for Amy (Beaumont) Felton, who attended PC from 1st through 12th grade and now serves our community as a kindergarten teacher.

Favorite PC Memories
One of Amy’s most memorable moments was during her senior year, when the choir won the state competition for the 10th year in a row—outscoring teams from other leagues as well.
“I enjoyed being involved in many school activities, events, and programs,” Amy shared. “Some of my favorites were playing volleyball, serving on student council, and singing in Choir and Ensemble. I was also part of the worship team. I’m still close friends with several people from high school and love keeping up with their families.”

Favorite PC Teachers
Amy’s memories include impactful teachers from both elementary and high school, highlighting the lasting influence of educators at every level.
She fondly remembers her first-grade teacher, Mrs. Johnson, “Even as a young student, I knew she loved all of her students deeply. She is still teaching, and I was able to reconnect with her on Facebook!”
In high school, Amy credits her English teacher, Mrs. Dowd, for preparing her well for college. “She held us to high expectations and taught us how to meet or exceed them. When I got to college, I once received the best compliment on a paper, ‘Someone taught you how to write!’”
Life After Graduation
Amy began her college journey at Trinity Western University and later completed her bachelor’s degree at Multnomah Bible College. She went on to earn her Master’s in Teaching through evening classes at Concordia University.
Why She Returned to PC
“I always wanted to be a teacher, and my experience at PC was so positive. It felt like home, so I always wanted to return.”
At PC, Amy has taught preschool, and kindergarten. “I’ve spent the majority of my years in kindergarten, and I absolutely love it!” she shared.

Returning to PC as Staff
While working on her master’s degree, Amy joined PC’s before- and after-school program. During that time, she met her husband, John, who was also working at the elementary campus. John is now in his 22nd year at PC, and Amy is in her 11th year, after also teaching at a few other schools.
Their two children have been blessed to experience the same Christ-centered education at Portland Christian, beginning in preschool.
