Royals Recap: Cross Country Wraps Up a Strong Season

The Varsity Cross Country team, led by Coach Jannsen, competed in the District Meet at Rainier High School last Thursday. The girls’ team came incredibly close to capturing the Northwest League title, finishing just three points shy of first place.
Senior Juliet Wachsmuth ran her final high school cross country race, placing 35th with a time of 23:20. Senior Stephanie Goldsmith followed with a 47th-place finish at 24:29, and junior Saskia Esselink came in 64th at 25:37.
On the boys’ side, sophomore Iliya Demchenko led the Royals with a 20th-place finish in 18:31. Senior Noah Humphrey placed 34th with a time of 19:10, and junior Isaac Schroeder finished 56th at 20:22.
It was a great season for the Royals, marked by steady improvement and teamwork. With many runners returning next year, the future looks bright for PC Cross Country!
