What’s Next? PC Students Explore College Options
At Portland Christian, helping our high school students explore their options after graduation is an essential part of our mission and one of the ways we prepare them for the future. I recently had the privilege of accompanying students on our Southern California Christian College Tour, an experience designed to help them see firsthand the many pathways available as they consider life beyond high school.
During the tour, our students visited six Christian colleges and universities across Southern California, representing a range of campus sizes, academic offerings, and athletic divisions—from NAIA to NCAA Division I. Being on these campuses allowed students to compare learning environments, campus cultures, and opportunities, and to begin identifying what type of college experience might be the best fit for them.
Universities toured:
- Azusa Pacific University
- Biola University
- California Baptist University
- Hope International University
- Life Pacific University
- Vanguard University
Throughout the trip, students toured campuses, met with admissions counselors, and connected with current college students. These conversations and experiences offered valuable insight into how each institution integrates faith, rigorous academics, and extracurricular opportunities. Seeing these campuses in person helped bring future goals into clearer focus and made the college search process feel more tangible.
Providing experiences like this reflects our investment in helping students explore their interests, gifts, and calling. My hope is that our students feel confident and prepared as they make decisions about their educational futures, while continuing to pursue their faith and God’s calling on their lives.
By offering intentional opportunities to explore a variety of postsecondary options, we aim to equip our students to move forward with confidence and purpose. The Southern California Christian College Tour will continue as an annual experience, broadening students’ awareness of Christian higher education and giving them the chance to see, ask, and imagine what comes next after high school.
