PC Families, hope the first few weeks of school have gone well! Below is a quick update on each group along with contact information and team store information for each team. Look forward to another busy week of PC sports.

Athletic Release Schedules – I-5 Traffic

I just wanted to make everyone aware that everyone in Portland is now dealing with parts of I-5 closing down for the next five weeks. This could lead to some earlier release times for our athletes and we will make sure we do our best to have your kids to any away games on time, while communicating all release times. For Junior High parents transporting athletes to away games, we may adjust the release time for any 4 pm game as well so be prepared for this moving forward.

High School Volleyball

The girls’ capped off the week with a 1-1 record. PC traveled to Westside Christian who is currently ranked at the 3A level, and held their own, playing three tough sets in the eventual loss. But the Royals rebounded with a 3-1 win at Country Christian on Thursday in their league opener to start the league season off on a good note. The Royals travel to St. Paul for a big tournament this Saturday, before hosting North Clackamas on Monday at home and then traveling to Mannahouse on Thursday for another league match.

High School Boys Soccer

The boys’ dropped a tough 1-0 decision at Blanchet on Monday which is really respectable as Blanchet is ranked at the 3A level and has most club players in their group. PC travels to Faith Bible tonight for a 5 pm match with the Falcons before coming back home next week in a rematch with Blanchet Monday, and then another non-league game with Umpqua Valley on Thursday here at home.

On the boys’ side, Iliya Demchenko took 5th with a time of 17:35 in the 5K. Aidan Le was next up for the Royals with a 20th place finish and a time of 20:41. Isaac Schroder was right behind him at 20:42. On the girls’ side, your PC athlete of the week, Ava Smith, took 5th with a 23:06 5K time and Saskia Esselink finished 22nd with a time of 29:19. Finley Downing finished 23rd at 29:29. Next competition for the group will be next Wednesday at the Jewell Jaunt at Jewell High School. Middle School Sports

MS Volleyball: The 6th grade group split their two matches last week with a win at Agape and a loss to 8th Street – the 7/8 Purple team won both of the matches at Agape and 8th Street and the 7/8 Gold team dropped both of their matches at Meadow Glade and at Hood View.

MS Boys Soccer: JH soccer was busy last week with the Purple team winning both of their games over North Clackamas and Meadow Glade, and the White team dropping both games with Grace Lutheran and Trinity Lutheran.

MS Girls Soccer: Our new girls’ team played their first game last Saturday and ended up dropping a 3-2 decision, but it was close and tied up until the final minutes.
