Royals Recap: Varsity Girls Basketball

The Portland Christian Lady Royals wrapped up a memorable 2025–26 season marked by individual milestones, strong team play, and a return to postseason competition. The Royals finished 14–13 overall and 8–6 in league play, recording 10 double-digit wins and 8 victories by 20 points or more. Their efforts earned the program a state playoff berth for the first time since 2020.

Offensively, Portland Christian was among the most productive teams in the classification. Entering the second round of league playoffs, the Royals had scored 1,314 points, the 4th-most in 2A girls’ basketball.

Three Royals earned Northwest All-League honors:
Juliet Wachsmuth — 1st Team All-League
Olivia Felton — 2nd Team All-League
Tirzah Singleterry — All-Defense Team

One of the season’s most memorable moments came on February 21, when the Royals defeated Clatskanie 65-57 to advance to the state playoffs. Hannah Lyslo delivered a career-high 28 points, hitting 7 of 11 three-pointers while adding 9 rebounds, while Juliet Wachsmuth and Olivia Felton added 16 and 11 points, respectively, in the key victory. Tirzah Singleterry added 6 points and double-figure rebounds, and Harman Kaur chipped in 4 points in the hard-fought win. “The celebration was the culmination of a lot of work that led to a truly special season.” shared Coach Felton.

Earlier in the postseason push, Portland Christian advanced to the second round of league playoffs on February 18with a win over Columbia Christian 59-36, led by Olivia Felton’s 17 points and Juliet Wachsmuth’s 16.

The season featured several milestones. On Senior Night, Juliet Wachsmuth reached 1,000 career points, a moment celebrated by teammates and fans alike. Earlier in the season, she also scored 27 points while shooting 8-12 from three, tying the Portland Christian school record with 8 three-pointers in a single game.

Balance across the lineup was a major strength for the Royals. Hannah Lyslo, Tirzah Singleterry, Olivia Felton, and Harman Kaur each recorded over 100 rebounds during the season, demonstrating the team’s physical play and commitment on the boards.

Olivia Felton regularly filled the stat sheet, including a standout triple-double (16 points, 17 rebounds, 13 assists) against Gaston. Tirzah Singleterry anchored the defense and rebounding, highlighted by games with 16 rebounds and 9 blocks, and 17 rebounds with 6 steals and 4 blocks. Harman Kaur added important interior play and rebounding, including 10 rebounds against Gaston and multiple 9-rebound performances during the season. Hannah Lyslo filled the role of the Royals’ third scoring option while doing much of the team’s gritty work. She recorded several double-digit scoring games, strong rebounding nights up to 10 boards, and standout defensive efforts, including 6 steals in one game.

The Royals also delivered several dominant wins during the season, including a 70-9 victory at Corbett, a 65-32 league-opening win over Faith Bible, and a 60-21 non-league victory fueled by strong performances from Wachsmuth, Felton, and Singleterry.
