High School (9th - 12th grade)

At Portland Christian, your teen will have the opportunity to learn leadership skills, work towards college and career goals, form meaningful friendships, and grow spiritually — all within a safe and academically challenging environment.

Academics that Challenge and Support

Course Offerings

A well-rounded education must be built upon the solid foundation of a comprehensive core curriculum.  All PCS high school students are well-grounded in English, Math, Science, History, Social Studies, and of course, Bible.

College Credit

PCS juniors and seniors can earn college credit. There is no need to give up high school sports, arts, and social life to attend class on a college campus. Portland Christian’s concurrent credit agreement with George Fox University and Advanced Placement course offerings allow students to continue enjoying the high school experience while earning college credit. Participating in activities with their peers helps students mature into young men and women who are ready to step into adulthood with confidence and conviction upon graduation from high school.

Some of the AP courses PCS offers are:
Art History English Literature & Composition Psychology
Biology French Music Theory
Calculus AB & BC Human Geography U.S. Government & Politics
Chemistry Latin 3 U.S. History
English Language & Composition Physics World History

Preparing for College and Careers

Student Support

Over 90% of Portland Christian graduates typically enter a college or university upon graduation.  79% of the class of 2022 graduated with honors, positioning them well for college success.  Some choose ministry, the military, a gap year, or a start on a career after graduation.  Whatever your student’s goal, the PCS Student Support Department can help them achieve it with academic, emotional, social, and spiritual support.

Qualified counselors assist every student with individual college planning. Additional supports available to students include free after-school tutoring, PSAT, SAT School Day offering, and on-site college fairs. See our College & Careers page for further information.

Where PCS Graduates Go

Colleges that PCS graduates have attended include Brandeis, George Fox, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, Multnomah, Pepperdine, Seton Hall, University of Oregon, University of Washington, US Air Force Academy, US Naval Academy, West Point, and more.

Beyond Academics: Athletics, Arts, & Enrichment

Student life doesn’t end when the bell rings. High school students will tell you that they learn as much from extracurricular activities as from academics and many discover much about themselves in the process. Your high school student can participate in a wide array of activities at PCS — they don’t have to choose to be “an athlete,”  or “an artist,” or a “mathematician” — students at PCS can develop multiple individual talents and interests as they explore their many options.

Athletics

At PCS, every sport is open to any student who wishes to try out.  PCS teams have won many State and League championships and PCS athletes have been recruited by Division I, Division II, Division III, and NAIA colleges & universities.
